Assessments

Individuals may present with complex issues that require comprehensive, standardized psychological assessments in order to inform treatment and support planning. NCTS offers formal psychological assessments as related to all major mental health conditions including addictions, anxiety, capacity, depression, personality disorders, risk and others as required.

Critical to impactful and appropriate cultural practices, NCTS counsellors have conducted these assessments with Inuit, First Nations and Metis clients.

Assessments can be done in various settings and for a variety of purposes:

  • Children and youth experiencing a diverse array mental illness and/or substance abuse issues (see Children and Youth Services – TAB)
  • Forensic and court ordered assessments both for crown and defense counsel
  • Clinical assessments in hospitals and psychiatric facilities
  • Assessments for child custody
  • Assessments for child welfare
  • School based assessments for special needs children (FASD, ADHD, ODD, autism, gifted, cognitive delays, learning disabilities)
  • Risk and safety assessments
  • Assessments for non-critical situations.
